Dismissal
In last week’s episode of Departure, We only saw one side of the equation. We spent the entire premiere of season 2 within the fluorescent borders of the Severed floor of Lumon. This week – as much as the doubt – the coin returned. In ‘Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig’ we spend the entire episode in the world of Outies.
Spoilers forward.
In Episode 2, we get moments after the events of the final of season 1. “Outies” by Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly R. (Britt Lower), Dylan G. (Zach Cherry) and Irving B. (John Turturro) They are all returned to themselves. Lumon, meanwhile, is trying to understand how to better control the damage.
We learn very quickly that Milkchick (Tramell Tillman) was lied to Mark when he told him that five months had passed and that Macrodata Refiners had become the “face” of the Severance Reform movement. No one outside Lumoni learned anything about the out -of -time work contingent. Helena Egan even makes a short video that sends to employees of Lumon and others who participated in the gala explaining that she mixed a prescription drug (from a non-playing institution!) With alcohol and it damaged her judgment, leading to her misconduct. “joke.”
Meanwhile, the moment Milchick tells Mark S. that months have passed, it was actually just a weekend. This becomes even more noticeable when the new employees are fired and we see Mark W threatening to sue Lumo while he is being followed by the premises while Mark Scout enters the building.

Lumon damage control is interesting for several reasons:
- Milchick runs his motorbike in the houses of Dylan and Irving and rests them both. No one gets the news well. Milchick does not explain the reasoning to Irving and tells Dylan that he was “aggressor” in a physical hassle at work – setting aside the important details, obviously.
- Milchick yes NO Mark fire, however. Instead, he encourages her to return to work, first to Mark’s sister’s house, Devon (Jen Tulllock) and her husband Rocket (Michael Chernus) and then when he brings a gift basket – with an pineapple for drinking – in Mark’s house. and offers him a salary increase.
- For whatever reason, Lumon needs sign. And it is about a mysterious project coded named Cold Harbor. We do not get more information than that, but it is clear that Mark’s presence is essential for completing this very important, very secretive project, while Dylan and Irving are considered expense.
Of course, it turns out that this is not exactly true. Mark S has such an adaptation that they decide to return both men as well as Helly r, though at this point I think it is safe to say that everyone is wondering if it is really Helly R or its “Outie” having Consider the lies she said. in last week’s episode. We also see some views of Helen Egan seeing the security footage of Helly R and Mark S interactions, almost as if she is trying to understand how her “Innie” works and learn the dynamics of the relationship between her and her associates. What is very interesting about this is not just that it is probably doing research on how to act down there, but the fact that she looks almost sad as she looks, as if it looks sweet of Helly R and Mark S. probably. As an Egan and a powerful corporate owner on its own, it has not had time for such lightness.
Helena Egan
We also see what Ms Cobel is doing in the outside world. Or should I call Mrs. Selvig? Rocket suggests “Cobelvig” as a useful nomenclature. O Ricket, never change. She is offered a new position in Lumon at the top of the division issues, but she does not want it. She wants to return to the top of the Severed floor. She tells Helen that she will think about it, but when Mark encounters them outside their homes in the city, she is clearly leaving the city. When she discovers that he is returning to Lumon, she asks if their offer to return “included an pineapple”, which is cheerful. She also makes fun of her that it’s so easy to swing.
When he faces him for Gemma (Dichen Lachman), however, she is silent. He crushes her at the point and she screams, driving her car towards him and forcing her to set aside. It is a clear acceptance that yes, all this includes his dead wife, who may not actually be dead.
This is a truth that Mark Scout does not want to accept for most of the episode. When he and his sister and Riken are speaking earlier in the episode, everyone agrees that his innie should refer to the baby, which Mrs. Selvig had left behind when he escaped from home earlier that evening. Only Devon seems to suspect this. Rocket is convinced, but Rocket is a fool. Mark – who has spent two years sadly and peace with his loss – simply cannot accept the possibility that his wife somehow is alive and has been kidnapped by Lumoni. When he meets Devon at dinner, he becomes extremely protected when she crushes the point.
When he comes out with a storm, we see Drummond (ólafur Darri ólafsson) sitting on a table nearby listening to everything. It is clear that Lumon wants to find out what they know inside and outside the Severed floor. (I recognized ólafsson from Eurovision Song Contest, in which his character wanted to hear – over and over – ya ya ding dong. This is a very different role).
Devon and Mark
Beyond all this, we learn a little more about Dylan and Irving. Dylan, we are not completely surprised when we learn, it is difficult to find a new job. He has a catastrophic interview – but extremely embarrassing – in a door manufacturer called Great Doors (as big outside, I think) where the interviewer, played by Adrian Martinez who looks like the twin of Dylan, turns out to be very strong and very negative. feelings for the procedure of dismissal.
Meanwhile Irving goes on a phone to make a mysterious call. A car pulls and someone looks at it from the inside. A moment later we see who is: Burt (Christopher Walken) who watches Irving with a very curious expression on his face. Something strange is happening.
Anyway, this was another wonderful episode Dismissal from work. It is interesting to see everything from the perspective of Innie last week, and then see how events occur from outside this week, especially because it shows how double and manipulating it is Lumon when it comes to their treatment of Innia. We have a lot of mysteries to devour: What is happening with Helly R? What is going on with Burtin? What on Earth is happening to Mrs. Casey / Gemma? And what is Cold Harbor, exactly? Oh, and where will Ms Cobelvig go and are you really leaving Lumoni despite her diligence and her religious dedication to Kier?
Too much to think about next week as we expect episode 3! What did you think of this week’s episode?
